Overview
of the Round Table
Wireless
innovations are clearly reconfiguring industries and
firms, both established and new. Indeed, wireless
is engendering the same high level of excitement as
Netscape did in 1995 when the browser burst on the
scene accelerating the Internet revolution. Today,
such companies as AvantGo, Palm, NTTDoCoMo, and other
efforts are challenging all firms to rethink business.
But the MANAGERIAL challenges presented by wireless
developments have received surprisingly little attention.
At
this unique Round Table, the Institute for Technology
and Enterprise will focus directly on the important
management and firm-level issues that wireless poses.
We will do this by zeroing in on relevant innovation
and organizational decision making in three key sectors:
NewMedia-Publishing, Healthcare, and Financial Services.
Participants at the Round Table will consider the
following:
- How
are firms organized to capitalize effectively on
the opportunities presented by the advent of wireless?
- What
new types of management structures are best able
to function in the emerging wireless content arena?
- What
can established firms learn in terms of management
from successful new wireless firms?
- What
are the most effective ways to promote innovation
at the intersection of wireless and content?
All Institute
Round Tables, unlike large conferences and traditional
large-scale meetings, strive to be true learning opportunities,
explicitly designed to encourage a maximum amount
of interaction and high-level discussion. As always,
representatives from leading companies will present
what they have learned, and original research and
case studies developed at ITE will be discussed, often
for the first time.
